I just found out that they are making a movie of The Road, which almost made me throw my half full glass of gin and tonic against the wall because that is one of my favorite books ever. There is no doubt that if this movie is even remotely like the book (which is by Cormac McCarthy. a.k.a. the guy who wrote No Country for Old Men which was already made into one of the best movies ever made) it will be amazing. Then again, I am a little biased since I like anything that is post-apocalyptic.
Let’s put it this way: If J.K. Rowling decided to revive the Harry Potter franchise and release a new Potter book that was set after some giant world catastrophe, I would be dressed the fuck up in a cape and carve a real scar into my forehead for the release (I apparently already look enough like HP to pull it off).
If they ever made a sports based videogame like Madden or even, yes, Nascar that was set in a dusty, radioactive future, I would be the first guy to pre order that game and try to bribe the dude at GameStop to let me get my copy early.
Shit, if they decide to make a second ‘Sex and the City’ movie (the first one has been successful, so why not?) that takes place in a destroyed New York in the middle of a nuclear winter, I would buy advance tickets and stand in line for hours to see the midnight premier.
But these are really the only instances where I could redact any hate I have given for these things.
The point is, you should read The Road because it is a fantastic book and has one of the best sentences ever written on just the 5th page alone, and it only gets better from there. My excitement for this movie almost rivals my excitement for The Dark Knight, which is pretty fuckin hard to do considering I masturbate to pictures of girls wearing Batman masks and Joker makeup.
